Missions

The missions of the German and the French Clearing House are the following:

assisting consumers in their cross border disputes with professionals based in another European country,
Iceland or Norway by providing

  • any necessary information on relevant mandatory rules
  • legal advice
  • information on existing Alternativ Dispute Resolution bodies (ADR-bodies) and procedures
  • advice on the legal consequences of such ADR-procedures
  • translation and transfer of consumer complaints to the competent Clearing House in the country where the professional is based
  • assistance throughout the entire ADR-procedure
  • information on German and European regulations on consumer protection
  • information on other existing consumer protection bodies and contact points
  • information on current problems occurring in cross border consumer transactions
